Set weeks after the fall of Syndrome, Peter Parker, now at his weakest and lowest, wakes up to a universe on the brink of war by The Empire, ruled by the return of the former emperor of the universe, Zurg!

Stuck between S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury, the contentious Colonel Miles Quaritch, the continued alienation back home in New York, the roaming Green Goblin causing mayhem, a galactic war ready to divide and wreck havoc, and a mysterious Symbiote that has found itself drawn to him, Peter Parker's future will be changed forever here as his past and future collide together to test him. 

During this time, Peter attempts to go back to his home world, New York and attempt to redeem himself and put himself in the good graces of its people, as he has a few months to be away from S.H.I.E.L.D to pursue before being brought back to the line of duty for the war.

All the while, a sinister mastermind prepares Peter for what is to come in the universe, as other shadowy movements drawn to this conflict intervene.
