Hat Kid, after waking up from a strange dream, discovers the world that she had just finished dreaming about, despite it allegedly not existing. Unlike the dream, however, the entire world is in chaos. Can she put a stop to it, or will the Planet be destroyed? My A Hat in Time fanfiction, not really a big project (stuck in the backseat), but it's still good, imo. Hope you enjoy it. 4.17% complete. (edit) I forgot to add that this started out as a confessional journal about becoming clean after a 10 year + addiction to OTC cold meds, but that was not my style of writing, I liked the material so I wanted to expand it into a novel length work featuring the journal elements. To say this work is a roller coaster would put it lightly. Although there are elements of time travel I would consider my sudden transitions reality travel. I use actual experience and dreams as a foundation, then toss in some fourth wall breaking narratives (meta-fiction), with a sprinkling of facts and quotations from songs and factual articles. It tends to be written similarly to an essay sans the boring. I have been influenced strongly by Vonnegut and W. S. Burroughs , and a wide variety of album rock, and that bleeds through. The tags dystopian and dark humor describe the whole piece best but there is a lot of genre jumping. I've done a good deal of research, not just for factual things but for the type of writing I do. Although not technically fan fiction, there is a nod to Final Fantasy games. The cover photo is a shared copyright, Brian Barbour took the photo, I added treatments.
