"It's... nice," he said flatly. His voice remained emotionless, but his fingers lingered on the watch as if it surprised him.
Her shoulders slumped. She looked down, eyes dimming, convinced he didn't like it. Maybe it was too cheap. Maybe she was stupid to even try.
But then, his voice dropped again-deeper this time, almost commanding.
"Come here. I'll give you a return gift."
Her head snapped up, eyes wide. "W-what?"
"Come. Here."
His eyes didn't waver, and though his tone was still unreadable, something flickered behind it.
With hesitant steps, she moved closer, her heart pounding erratically. Before she could say a word, his arm slipped around her waist in one swift motion, firm and unrelenting. A gasp escaped her lips, but it was silenced just as quickly-
He pulled her flush against him, and without warning, his lips crashed down on hers.
