Snake Venom is a coming-of-age novella about the teenage daughter of a fervent preacher and snake handler in the Appalachians. It explores the blooming sexuality of a young girl, and her struggle with depression, addiction, guilt, and feelings of isolation and loneliness.
Author's note: I've had the idea of Snake Venom for many years, but never did much with it until I read Bukowski's Ham on Rye. I hoped I wrote with the same raw honesty and humor as Buk.
