Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers have been inseparable since they were five years old, growing up as best friends and basketball prodigies in a small, conservative town. Now high school sophomores and stars of the girls' varsity team at St. Agnes Academy, their bond deepens into something more-but they're forced to hide it from their deeply homophobic parents and judgmental community. As longing glances, secret texts, and stolen moments build into something undeniable, Azzi and Paige must navigate the pressures of teenage life, the intensity of their growing feelings, and the risks of being true to themselves in a world that won't accept them. Surrounded by friends, rivals, and the ever-present threat of exposure, their slow-burn romance simmers with tension, yearning, and a love they were never supposed to have.

Only you

Before the championships, before UConn, before marriage and baby Harper-there was 2017. Paige Bueckers, 15, and Azzi Fudd, 14, were two of the brightest young stars in women's basketball, thrown together on Team USA's U16 squad. The problem? They couldn't stand each other. Paige thought Azzi was too serious, too polished, too perfect. Azzi thought Paige was cocky, loud, and reckless. But traveling the world together meant there was no escape. Through long practices, curfews, bus rides, and the pressure of wearing red, white, and blue, their rivalry slowly began to shift. Enemies became teammates. Teammates became friends. And maybe-just maybe-something deeper was already burning between them, even if they didn't have words for it yet.
