Maxwell Lahey had a simple life. He owned 'Open Door' - a bar located on the cusp of the rougher part of Mariner Bay that on the outside seemed pretty regular. But those who knew understood how much of a safe space it was.

'Uncle Max' is what people usually called him because he was someone to talk to. Someone who would let you stay in the upstairs spare room for a couple days. Someone who would give you a temporary job to help you get back on your feet. Someone who would give you the shirt on his back if it kept you warm.
