Isobel has been raised to be the perfect bride and mother in a society where women are rare after a devastating plague and war. Women are expected to take multiple husbands, who can support them while they take care of the home and raise the children. It's all she's ever known, and she knows it's what is supposed to be good for her. Unexpectedly, her final exam at Eve Academy, which is supposed to define her future and what men she will be matched with, is interrupted by a bombing. Her life is saved by her former best friend, Karina, a girl who she stopped being friends with because she would never follow the rules. Unexpectedly, she finds herself tempted by Karina's boldness and statements that she should not have to follow the life set out for her. She realizes that perhaps it's not that she's never fantasized about loving a man because she wants to be perfect for the ones chosen for her, but because she is not capable of loving a man at all. But Karina is part of something darker - something dangerous. Can Isobel break out of the role prescribed for her, even if it means risking her safety? Or will she push down her feelings once again, too scared to do anything different?

Have you ever wondered why people say goodbye? Minsan masaya, minsan masakit. Pero para kay Hailer Gamboa, goodbyes are just words. Walang bigat, walang saysay. She's mastered the art of detachment. After all, what's the point of holding on when people always leave? Especially after surviving a toxic relationship with a guy who broke not just her trust, but also the way she saw love. Since then, she's stopped letting herself feel anything at all. But all that changes the moment she meets Shelley Stella Sanchez, fiery, fascinating, and unlike anyone Hailer's ever met. Shelley grew up in chaos, broken family, broken promises, and way too many nights pretending she was okay. Pero kahit ganon, there's something unshakable about her. She walks into rooms like she owns them, carrying pain like it's part of her armor. And Hailer? She can't look away. Suddenly, goodbyes don't feel so empty anymore. The more time they spend together, the more Hailer starts to question everything. Her beliefs. Her fears. Even the way she's been living her life. Shelley, with all her scars and strength, might just be the change Hailer never knew she needed. But love isn't easy when you're used to pushing people away. So now the question is: Can Hailer finally let someone in? Can she be the light in Shelley's darkness the same way Shelley unknowingly became hers? Or will this be just another goodbye?
