Something is feeding on us-silently, invisibly. It drains our energy, clouds our minds, and leaves behind only despair. Some call it depression. Some call it madness. But what if it's something much worse? Katherine always thought her small-town life in Forest Springs was ordinary-until her 18th birthday. That's when the nightmares began. That's when the feeling crept in: something was watching her... something hungry. Everyone said her mother was insane before she died. But what if her mother wasn't crazy? What if she was right? Katherine is about to discover a hidden world of astral warriors known as Soul Seekers-young people born with the power to leave their bodies and battle the real threat: Soul Seethers, monstrous entities that feed on human souls. And now, one of them is coming for her. To survive, she'll have to awaken her power, face the darkness, and fight for the light inside us all.

Alone. Naked. Cold. Covered in blood that is just as likely to be mine as someone else's. I don't know who I am, where I am, or what I'm running from. All I get are flashes, snippets of dark shadows, sneering faces. Pain always follows these nightmares, these memories. I was found, taken in, but I have no way of knowing if I only escaped the frying pan just to jump into the fire. I don't understand these people, these wolves. They don't understand me, either. Our words mean nothing to each other, they're no more than sounds. We use gestures, facial expressions, body language like the beasts we seem to be. I can only pray these beasts are not the same ones I'm running from. -This story has depictions of violence, depression, panic attacks, gore.
