How does someone learn to be a baby again? To walk again, to play again? And how does a princess learn to be a mother-and to be imperfect?
Alex, a 21-year-old engineering student, is suddenly pulled from his world into the land of Equestria. But now, he finds himself in the body of an almost-newborn, forced to relearn everything-while his adult mind struggles to make sense of a world that doesn't follow the same rules of physics as Earth. It's not easy when your body insists on acting like an infant.
Princess Celestia, a ruler who has quietly longed to hear the word "Mom," offers to help him find a way home-if such a thing is even possible. Until then, she'll take care of him.
Determined not to burden her further, Alex plays the part of a normal foal, hiding his lingering awareness. Can he maintain the charade, or will his struggle reveal the truth? And as Celestia tends to him, will she discover that motherhood isn't about perfection?
I wrote this fanfic based on a simple question: Why are there so many stories that approach age change with something like, "Oh, I'm a kid again... good to know" and skipping almost the entire childhood and learning process?
If you're interested, follow me on a journey of learning equine biology until midnight, making sense of the magic system, reading articles about motherhood, and improving my grammar skills (English is not my native language-Spanish is-so there might be some odd phrasing. Starlight Glimmer, now married to Sunburst, and a mom, with a child that shows a great example to the expression, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree". Her daughter, Scroll Star, is quite magical, and had many friends, until something happened that changed it all. What other drama can happen for being a lot like Starlight Glimmer, one of Equestria's most powerful ponies, who made a whole village of ponies get rid of their curie marks, stalk Princess Twilight, who became Starlight's mentor, AND went back in time to make sure Twilight Sparkle's friendship doesn't happen, due to a problem in her old friendship, involving Sunburst? NOTE: Fluttershy's family's story is based on DisneyFanatic2364's fan-fics. DO NOT OWN THAT! POST-NOTE: This story was first published in June, 2017. Being transparent, this story is an MLP fanfic that started out as a pet project of mine, but I finished it a few days ago, and I felt it's finally time I share it. Sure, it starts out with typical "OC meets canon character" stuff, but it gets good, I swear! Seriously, this story gets quite insane by the end, and while I don't blame you if you don't read every single chapter... at least read the tenth chapters, because that's usually where it gets the most insane. I might even upload said tenth chapters before the others because... well, I'm going to be rewriting a lot of stuff, and I'm not gonna make you wait to get to the good parts. By the way, the story contains a lot of No More Heroes/Bayonetta influences, and some Devil May Cry ones earlier on. Also, please keep in mind that while I do try to write the characters canon to the show as accurately as I can, I try to write them with a bit more sincerity, as if they're people instead of cartoon ponies. Then again, take my attempt at a more realistic portrayal of the characters with a grain of salt. I'm still an amateur writer after all, so whether or not the characters do actually act like more realistic versions of the characters from the show is up to you to judge.
