Four years after her mission, Emily decided it was time for a new beginning and moved back to the States to pursue her dream career, with her three-year-old toddler in tow.

Navigating motherhood and the unpleasant feelings her new boss unwittingly stirred within her, Emily struggled to hide the enjoyment she felt from the light he brought into her life. And in a precarious situation she was too complacent to recognize, she found herself happy and content. But she would soon discover that she was never fully untethered from her past- no matter where she went or the oceans she crossed, some shadows simply never faded; their grip remained unyielding.
