Eden is the leader of a criminal duo containing her and her friend, Ame. The two recruit Ame's best friend, Jessie. While Jessie accepts, he soon finds himself in a dilemma, on whether he should let his morals stay or go. Looking for an out, Jessie questions what being human is, and what being good looks like in the real world. Ame watches from the sidelines, only to realize soon that Eden is not who she seems.
April and Angel are a couple. April is a recovered drug addict, and Angel is a somewhat messy individual, whose morals fall in the gray area. When they suddenly find themselves victims of crime, they decide to hunt down who exactly is behind the crimes. The mystery of Angel's missing sister, Nadia, rises back from the depths of her mind as the couple faces the worst villain of all- mental health.
In the shadows, though, a darker plot looms as secrets arise and risks are taken, diving into the mind of a criminal and blurring the lines between what wrong and right is. Demons, metaphorically and literally, arise from shadows as tragic pasts twist into demonic presents and futures, and the point of no return and worst coming to worst is explored in Nebraskan Nights, a story that questions the reader on how much a traumatic past truly justifies.
Nebraskan Nights tackles many topics in one book. Trauma, identity, mental health, and even religious topics like demons and the soul, in a novel that combines them all in a story that can only be described as a beautiful boiling pot of genres. Crime, mystery, psychological horror, and religious horror all get tackled in different aspects, with a vibrant, memorable cast that each have a story of their own. It tackles the idea of a victim of a crime most heinous using that victimization to commit more atrocities in justice's name. The story is NOT meant to blame victims of SA, it is to raise awareness!
