Seventeen-year-old Kyren always believed the stories his grandmother used to tell him about mermaids living somewhere out past the reefs. Most people in St. Vincent thought it was just old talk, but he always felt like there was more to it. One day, while out near Owia Salt Pond, a storm blows in and changes everything. Kyren ends up discovering a hidden island and real mermaids living there.
He tries to keep it a secret, going back and forth between his normal life in Enhams and the peaceful island the mermaids call home. But things start to get messy when word starts spreading and the government hears rumours. They want to take over the island for their own plans, and Kyren knows if they do, the mermaids are in serious danger.
Now he has to figure out how to protect the island and the people living on it. But when the mermaids get captured and the island starts to lose its magic, Kyren is forced to step up. He has one shot to save them before everything disappears.
