Deepdene Christian College is open for its first day, nine months early, after the school that previously owned the buildings and grounds went bust, leaving 250 girls with nowhere to go. The Church of Christ the Reformer is doing the local education authority a favour by opening the new church school so quickly, but right from the start, the teachers and pupils are involved in controversy as two very different worlds collide.
