The rain fell in a slow, steady rhythm, whispering through the skeletal branches of twisted trees. It soaked the earth, turned stone to shadow and drowned even the faintest sound of footsteps in the gloom. The cemetery, cloaked in darkness, lay forgotten at the edge of the city, a place time had abandoned. Cracked headstones jutted from the ground like broken teeth, their engravings worn smooth by age and sorrow. Beneath the weight of the storm, a single figure stood still. A black cloak billowed around her, clinging to her frame as the wind pulled at the hem. The hood concealed her face in shadow, the faint shimmer of silver at her hip the only hint of the weapons she carried beneath. She stood before a grave, unmoving, the name on the tombstone washed clean by rain and time. Only the date remained visible. Only the silence remembered.

She woke to a world washed in silver. The clouds hung low, heavy with secrets. And when the rain began, soft, deliberate. She welcomed it like an old friend. But this morning wasn't like the others. Between the drops, she saw them. Tiny beings, born of shimmer and storm. Fairies. Real ones. They moved like the rain itself knew how to keep them hidden. And in that quiet wonder, something ancient stirred. Everyone else rushed past, umbrellas raised, eyes down. No one noticed. Except her. One fairy remained. Still, glowing, watching her like it had been waiting. When she whispered, "Hello," the world began to shift. But the rain wasn't the only thing falling that day. A parcel was coming. A diary that writes back. A demon who already knows her name. And a truth her father buried long ago. The past isn't sleeping. It's waking up.
