Tony Stark has had enough. After the Sokovia Accords, Civil War, and everything in between, he realizes he's been carrying the weight of the team, and the world, on his back with little support and too much blame. When the dust settles and no one stands beside him, he decides to step away. No more funding. No more tech. No more Stark playing hero for people who never had his back. He walks away and thrives. But when the next global threat arises, the Avengers come knocking. And Tony Stark? He's not feeling generous anymore.

Tony Stark was never Iron Man. He was never a hero, never anything except 'genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist'. The only thing he was, was a broken man with a hunk of metal embedded in his chest, broken even further when he ended up the victim of a near-fatal car crash after a fight with Steve Rodgers, the leader of the Avengers. When Tony learns that he only has three months left to live, he breaks completely. He wastes his three months of life, wallowing in depression, until he realizes that he doesn't want to die and learns of a mystical school in the Himalayas: Kamar-Taj. Stephen Strange is a doctor with broken hands, his career ripped from his shaky grasp when he is thrown out of a hospital window and buried under half a building. Distraught, in pain, and desperate, Stephen tries his hardest to recover, turning a blind eye to every fruitless attempt. Until he learns of Kamar-Taj and meets a man named Tony Stark. Both men feel as if they are broken beyond repair, never to be whole again, and never to be loved. What happens, then, when an ordinary man literally running on batteries and a doctor who lost his work, his life, begin to mend each other? Picking up the pieces, binding the shards of metal and glass with the romance slowly blooming between them? Following the events of Doctor Strange, the two men realize there is more to the other than meets the eye, and more to themselves then they realized. But when the war is won, the dust settles, and peace overcomes the word, love is what remains. And it all started from a game of twisted fates. |~|~|~| • posted on Ao3 under Kadi_WatsonHolmes • soon to be posted on Fanfiction.net under Kadi_WatsonHolmes 🔹Started: 2/5/2022 🔸Finished: 2/21/2022 Currently under editing (moral of the story: don't binge write a 22-chapter book in less than three weeks. "You probably guessed it wasn't Avengers related, so I'll get right to it. There's an SI Gala going on this Wednesday, and for the last month and a half I've been dreading it. The usual boring business shenanigans. Then, a brilliant idea pops into my head, pretty usual occurrence for me I know-" "Is there a point to this?" "But," Tony continues as if he wasn't interrupted,"who am I to decline my own genius. So," he turns lazily on his heel to suddenly face the doctor with a confident smile, "be my date." Or: Tony takes Stephen out on a surprisingly thoughtful date to convince him to come to a Stark Industries Gala. Stephen thinks it'll be easy to go through the motions, but when Tony turns out to be genuinely considerate, he's not so sure. However, like everything else in Stephen's unpredictable life, things go off the deep end when it turns out Tony hasn't been entirely truthful about his motives.
