Panic washed over her face as she kneeled beside her sweet little girl, now covered in a blood stained night gown, black eye and bloody lip. "Why did you let him hurt me, mommy?" My mother gasped and fell back onto her hands. Terrified, she stood and with no hesitation, made a dash for the door, leaving her baby girl in the dark corner. Her panicked attempt to leave the room came to a complete stop as she came to face the full length mirror. She stared back in horror, only it wasn't her looking back at her reflection.
