The distant future. The war between androids and humanity has recently ended. The humans barely won, losing many technologies. A little time has passed, and a new threat has emerged. The emperor of one of the empires wants to enslave everyone, and the Republic of free planets is forced to enter the war. The Republic's scientists invent a new engine, but it needs a lot of gold. One of the ships of the free planets goes to a newly discovered, backward planet. It is inhabited by humans, but communication with other planets has long been lost, and the people have slipped into a feudal-slave system. The scientists on the ship can't directly show their presence because of the rules and decide to turn some crew members into gods so they can collect gold. But first, the scientists decide to organize a rebellion on the planet. The godlike have to face many difficulties.

Ahmed confronts the sands of illusion and masked guardians, breaking the deception until he discovers the story is linked to the secret burial of a girl. Led by Haj Sami, they excavate beneath his house and unearth his son's mummy. Ahmed returns it to the spirit, bringing peace to the soul and halting the attacks. Later, the authorities uncover the tomb's treasures, and Dr. Karim is celebrated for his discovery. The story concludes with the observation that Egypt is full of undiscovered antiquities and that dark stories of the past lie hidden behind seemingly supernatural myths.
