moving to vancouver for the summer when i was little was never in my parents game plan. especially not loving it so much that we would then go every summer to come. which led to my mom becoming best friends with the woman next door to us who happened to have a son my age. carter. 

the family next door also happened to be in vancouver just for the summer and is originally from LA. just like us. so from then on carter and i became inseparable back home too. literally best friends from the age of 5 to now, our senior year. except i've maybe developed a little crush on him that everyone but his ass knows about.

Sometimes I catch myself wondering how I ended up juggling early morning swim practices, a full course load, and the whirlwind of campus life-all while carrying the weight of expectations from a dad who once dominated professional hockey and a mom who's a force in the fashion world. Maybe that's why I'm so good at keeping my guard up, hiding behind perfect times in the pool and a quick, practiced wit. I first crossed paths with Cam Reid after being dragged to a party the night I moved into my freshman dorm. It focuses on friendship, love, what family can look like for different people, and how to keep going after loss and abuse. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote.
