"Token Black Friend" tells the story of an unexpected friendship between Clay, a white gay man, and Zaire, a Black woman. Working together at a convenience store called Kiwis, they bond over their differences, often through humor that touches on their racial and sexual identities. As Zaire shares her experiences as a Black woman, Clay gains a deeper understanding of her struggles. Similarly, Clay offers Zaire insight into his life as a gay man. Their time together at Kiwis leads to a tearful farewell when Clay moves to Kentucky to open new stores, but their connection endures through ongoing communication. This comedic novel explores the true meaning of friendship, highlighting personal growth and the importance of embracing differences without judgment, ultimately suggesting that individuals are more than their race or sexuality.

The world is full of surprises, and people are not always what they seem. This is especially true for Kenzie, Matt, and Reed. Reed Basil is the quintessential all-American southern boy, with the NFL beckoning him just like his father before him. However, he is not content with the life everyone expects of him. He has dreams and desires that extend beyond being the all-American good southern man that people expect of him, and which his father wants for him. Matt Jacobs is a quiet, smart, and good-looking guy that most people write off once they get to know him or he starts talking. No one gives him a chance unless they have a goal to use him for his brain or to get closer to his roommate. But what happens when his dreams come true, and his best friend finally sees how much he cares for him? Unfortunately, the next day brings them back to the real-life challenges that one may not want to face. Kenzie Underwood is the kind of person who keeps to herself, but she's not one to be underestimated. She has a sharp intuition that never fails her and a smart tongue. She sees right through Reed and Matt's supposed friendship. But what happens when she realizes that she wants to be involved and that there might be something more between all of them? Is she seeing something that isn't there, or is there more to this story than meets the eye? As their paths converge, these three individuals will discover that the world is full of surprises. They'll have to navigate unexpected twists and turns to find their place in a world that doesn't always make sense. It's a story of love, friendship, and self-discovery that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

Trevor has always felt stuck where she is. But the once in a lifetime chance to go on the road trip she's been dreaming about since she was a kid may help to fix that. It'll just be her and the open road. Or so she thought. When three of her classmates find a way to join in on her plans, she worries it may not be the trip of her dreams. But over the course of the roadtrip, she begins to learn what it really means to have others care about her. And to care about others. And one special boy, whose cloudy blue eyes will always remind her of the ocean, may have a large part in that.
