At 20, Mason Dixon had been on his own for two years. He ran away at 14-not out of hate, but fear. His uncle and grandfather made home unbearable. After the world fell apart, all he wanted was to find his dad.
On the road, he found Zara-an eight-year-old girl hiding in a car, scared and silent. When he asked if she wanted to come with him, she nodded. Over time, she began to trust him, eventually calling him "Dad." He never corrected her.
They survived together for over a year, always moving, chasing rumors of a safe zone.
One day, they saw smoke rising from a prison. Walkers. Gunfire. Chaos. Mason pulled Zara to cover. It wasn't safety-but their journey wasn't over.
