Both Suo and Sakura are terrible at talking about emotions. They're used to fists doing the talking. So instead of "I care about you," you get "Why didn't you dodge?" or "Don't get hit again." Suo burns quietly. His affection turns into frustration, protectiveness, and sometimes even recklessness. He doesn't just want to protect Sakura - he needs to.
