After a magical evening at The Raven café, where a chance encounter with the elegant and enigmatic Charlotte sparks an unexpected connection, the narrator begins a euphoric walk home-only to be violently abducted three blocks in. Thrown into a cage in a decrepit, shadowy warehouse, she clings to memories of Charlotte's warmth and charm from earlier as her only tether to hope. But when a silent, otherworldly woman emerges from the darkness with knowing eyes, the narrator realizes this nightmare is far from random-and that Charlotte may be more than she seemed or even worse, in danger!

The world is dying, sunless and frozen, as a world war wanes. A soldier deserts her first battle after visceral horror and questions her indoctrination. A loving huntress helps her to survive the lethal cold, but her memory still stings with blood-red terror and stinging pain. Brutal wilderness survival and a rich internal monologue helps us follow Ravenna's inner thoughts at the terrors and love alike she experiences whilst trying to make sense of a dying world, and fight for peace.
