This story will be based on a fan-made theory I read about a few weeks ago regarding the origins of the Crossed virus. While I think the actual comics are pretty poorly written and far too reliant on shock and gross-out horror, I find the overall premise of the outbreak quite scary and I felt like exploring a theory some folks have about the virus might be kinda fun. If only for a brief time. There will be mention of characters from the original comic, but I'm not gonna write out their full story. Nor will there be any mention/emphasis on sexual abuse directed toward survivors by the Crossed. More emphasis on bodily harm.

They first came as individuals, people caught up in the Nuclear blast of Craitown. But people soon realised that the infected numbers were increasing. Cities were swarmed by mobs of what the few remaining survivors dubbed as 'Zombies'. The virus messed with their brains, driving them insane with a crazy instinct to kill. Survivors fled, taking refuge in defended shelters, sticking in groups. But nothing can keep the infected back. No defences. No weapons. No running. Back by popular request! The 2017 rough draft of The Virus Within! (Caution: Contains massive plotholes that were fixed in the polished The Virus Within Series. Grammar issues are present, particularly missing commas.) What do you do when you are one of the infected? The virus in my blood is trying to steal my humanity. It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book. It has nothing to do with A Different Virus. I wanted to try a book with an easily irritated main character and a nutcase secondary character. This book has a slightly darker outlook at the beginning than my usual stories, but it has some humor further along. Same as my other 2 books I wrote Resident evil 0 and 1. This is Resident Evil 2, I will be playing the game and writing it through, some in my own words and some as per the game.
