A pillar for fates intended path has died at Vanya's hands, and despite the claims that it was an accident, the commanding powers of eternity have deemed her guilty and chosen the worst punishment possible: Resurrection. What many would assume to be a gift is torture to Vanya--it's returning to the shackles of her mothers strict rules and expectations. Back to the never-ending guilt that a life in a too-small town filled with bruised memories nurtures.
But when it is decided that her unwilling partner in crime- Casimir- is to be Resurrected alongside her in the place of her late childhood best friend, both of them realize that things will be much worse than they originally assumed. Trapped playing the role of best friends for six months, Vanya and Casimir are tasked with learning to get along, or destroy one another trying.
Suddenly thrown back into the throes of her small town life while the summer nights quickly dwindle into the opening of schools doors, Vanya must suddenly trust nobody- not even those closest to her. Nobody but Casimir, who does his best to maintain the gap between them.
Vanya's killer is out for blood. Her blood. She won't let them get away with it.
Tangled in a fight with both monster and man, the terrible truths of her reality, and the infuriating growing feelings for one another, Vanya and Casimir must find the killer and put an end to the monsters before time runs out.
Eternity is on the line. But can they come over their differences and pasts long enough to succeed? Or will they be destined to destroy one another in the end?
