Alex was born in a coastal village near Mycenae, the child of two embittered mortals, a once-proud soldier turned alcoholic, and a mother who viewed Alex's birth as the death of her youth and freedom. Their village, steeped in superstition, considered gentleness a flaw and ambiguity a danger. Alex was sensitive, empathetic, and different, and for this, they were shamed and punished. When they asked questions, they were told to be silent. When they cried, they were locked in the cellar. Their father said they were "too soft to live" and would beat them to "toughen them up." Their mother ignored them unless she needed a scapegoat. Their community watched in silence. The abuse was not because Alex was divine, but because they were human in a world afraid of softness, nuance, and change. One night, after a particularly cruel beating, Alex ran away and collapsed near an overgrown shrine. It was there that the gods began to take notice.

Your mother was unable to give birth to a child after so many attempts, as she believed that a child was the only thing that could save her marriage with her husband. After many failed attempts, she never gave up and kept on praying to Hera to have her give her a blessing to birth a child. One day, it worked, and a healthy baby boy was born. After six years, the marriage went downhill without a shred of evidence that it was ever saved. This made your mother teach you to treat men with caution, and she showed you to her friends to coach you to be more affectionate and caring, rather than take after your father, who cheated on her. One day, while Hera was angry, she noticed a blessing she was given was being miss treated and the wife let the marriage fail. Out of petty anger, she went down there and took the blessing she gave back... You.
