In the year 3125, humanity lives in interplanetary colonies after Earth was completely destroyed. On a distant planet called Kyra-7, humans discover the existence of mysterious beings known as the Noir-transparent creatures that live within light, only visible in shadow, and sensitive solely to emotional vibrations.

Naera, a young human scientist, is sent to study these beings. There, she meets Ciron, a Noir who is unlike the others: he can take on a semi-human form only when near her, due to a rare energetic bond called emotional resonance.
