Montblanc had it good. There was no mess, no drama, just clean schedules and closed deals. Then she happened. His assistant, the woman who organized his life to the minute, completely derailed his sanity. One second, she handed him a stapler; the next, he wondered how her lipstick would look smeared on his neck. She gave him headaches and hard-ons in the same breath, and he was starting to confuse the two. Worse? He wasn't clueless. He knew exactly what it meant, what that tight pull in his chest was every time she smiled like she didn't know what she was doing to him. Desire like this had a cost. And he wasn't sure he could afford it. So now he was stuck with the decision that made grown men sweat: keep her at arm's length and lose the only person who's ever kept his life together-or give in to the need clawing at his gut and risk it all. His reputation. His peace of mind. Hell, maybe even his soul. Because this wasn't just a crush, it was a slow-burn disaster waiting to happen. And Montblanc? He'd never wanted anything more.

"All's fair in love and war, or some shit, right?" He said, his smirk drawing to a slight sneer as he padded towards the open balcony. He rested his hands on the guardrail before letting out an exasperated sigh, thunder rolling behind it. The rain cascaded onto the tile in sheets, blowing the soft cream curtains back and forth. "Or some shit." I smiled, walking towards him. I could see the tension grow in his back and shoulders, his struggle evident. I placed my hand gently on his shoulder, trying my best to reassure him. I could feel his breathing hitch slightly at my touch; his response was all I needed to reassure me I was doing the right thing. My touch was welcomed. I leaned my head on his back, wrapping my hands around his waist. I longed to take away his pain; I hated seeing anyone this upset. She wasn't worth his time. He said so himself- he's never found a woman worth changing plans for. Maybe he meant since her, I can't be sure. I am, however, hoping to show him that, one day, that woman might be me. ****** Jeanie is a spunky assistant living in Atlanta.
