The other is the historic poor part of town. Their history is wallowing in their broke self pity. Every person seems happy with staying in this city, wherever they reside. The people with 2 houses love their side and the people with 2 jobs love their side. No one wants in. No one wants out. Except for two people...

The most popular guy in the rich, prestigious private school on Willow Lane. Actually, the best school in the state. He wants nothing more than to leave behind the people who expect him to be someone else and live a humble life with his electric guitar. He envies the people born on the other-side of town who have no stereotypes, who are not expected to be perfect.

The weirdest girl in the slums. She has nothing but her apartment and her far-fetched dreams of working in politics. She works as a waitress to afford to go to the private school on the edge of the rich side of the city. She's bullied, broke, and losing hope of her dreams. She wishes she could ride the old trolley and take Mr. Lee the old man she sits with on the bench every morning, and leave to New York City to become SOMETHING. She envies the rich people born on the other side of town who get to be of substance.

They want what the other one has . Their paths have never collided before. Until they are stuck sitting together for a year in their Literature class. He wants to be her friend. She wants nothing to do with him. Will their dreams ever amount to everything. Or will they come crashing and burn into the fire of hatred.
