What if we lived in a world where tattoos just randomly appeared on our skin, and we had to figure out what they meant for ourselves? Payton King lives in that world, although her first tattoo has yet to appear. But then her brother ends up missing, the next day found dead. The day after, his death date is inked on the back of her neck. More deaths come up on the news, more dates end up on the back of Payton's neck. But what is she supposed to do? What can she do? And then a new date is added, one that gave her so much more time than the others. With a new found compass, Payton sets out on a journey, hoping to get to the person before their deadline arrives. Along the way she finds herself with a new beginning, hope, power, strength and maybe, just maybe, her soulmate.
