Dear Diary,
I tried to kill myself 3 days ago. Unfortunately, it didn't work, so here I am.

Arthur Ezra Byers didn't have anyone when he tried to take his own life-- no family, no friends, no life. He crashed his parent's old car into an oncoming vehicle, but it didn't kill him. Instead, it opened the doors of his life to Matt Hamilton, the man who happened to be driving that other vehicle. Once there was enough evidence to prove Ezra's parents weren't present in his life, Matt was allowed to sign him out and take him home to live with his wife, Elise, and two kids, Ben and Emily.
Ezra is a closed book. He refuses to open up to anyone. But people keep persisting. The Hamiltons, his court-mandated therapist, the boy who works at the bookstore. Will they be able to break his insanely thick walls down once and for all, or will he remain a shell of his potential?
