This book follows the story of Aldric Wolfenhaur, a young paladin fighting for the Ethorian Empire.
He struggles with the unjust world he lives in and finds it difficult to justify his own actions on the battlefield, especially since it seems he isn't the one in control and is merely an instrument for pain.
Haunted by nightmares of a guardian angel, caged in his mind, and a beast forcing his hand. He tries to deal with his own buried trauma while trying to make a name for himself.
Alongside him, he has some close allies: his childhood friend and his chosen sister, Adelaine.
Maine a powerful prodigy, and the youngest zealtros to ever be appointed in Ethoria.
And Ember, his loyal and sarcastic, spirit wolf.

What began as a story inspired by Kentaro Muira's Berserk, became a world... The young Prince Eadric has lost his closest friend, greatest ally, and true love, his squire Olivar. Ripped from Eadric by a war his Father-the King-began and does not wish to end, or else diminish his power and control over the people. The Prince has no recourse for justice, or sanction to grieve openly, lest the court discover his "sinful nature," his desire for men. He finds comfort where he can, in time spent with his wife, the Princess Malika, and their children, but an emptiness continues to haunt him. By decree of the king, in hopes that his son may be "cured" of his "affliction," he has commissioned the Holy Seal to assign a spiritual tutor to guide the Prince. Through fate or other pantheonic happenstance, the High Cleric Daemo is selected for the task and through their lessons spent together the pair discover a bond that supersedes duty, and societal want. An elve, born among the lower classes of Ullyn-their shared country-Daemo has brought to his newly established rank as High Cleric, a deep understanding of the peasant plight and fights to strengthen their rights. Often childish, and yet wise beyond his years, capable of reciting great poetry and replicating flatulent excess, the High Cleric captivates Eadric with his eccentric charm, as the Prince captivates Daemo with his gentle heart, buried beneath a societally mandated masculine stoicism. Spanning nearly two decades, their relationship soars to beautiful highs, and crashes to withering lows, throttled by unrest and the pressures constantly laid upon the Prince as the son of a man who has done more wrong for the kingdom than right. Eadric could resign himself to the traditional expectations that generations past have established for him, or fight for newly formed convictions-social justice-fostered by feelings he never thought he could find again, those of true love, with Daemo.

As the High Order struggles to defend the Borders of Terralor, they summon the Kinsmen Order- only to receive an unlikely band of seven mismatched journeymen. Led by Rangvald Raventsone, a fledgling wizard and Red Reechon, a Tolk with a melody. Burned by matters of the heart and haunted with a destiny that he can't outrun, Red is thrust into the role of High Lord of the Kinsmen order. With war looming and Terralor threatened by Ogres, Goblins, and Trolls, Red must lead his companions into an adventure far greater than any of them imagined. But adventure demands a price. Is it love? Sacrifice? Red is about to discover that some destinies come with a cost only he can pay.
