She sat up, the ashen petals crunching softly beneath her. Her fingers traced the familiar grip of her bow, still clutched in her hand. Artemis had always been a constant, a guiding light, even in the darkest of times. But now... now the light felt distant, extinguished.
"I never did thank you, did I?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper.
"Thank me for what?"
"For protecting me"
The girl took a deep breath. "Brother" she called out, "Can I come with you?"
The young man stopped walking, his back to her. But the smile was still there, she could feel it, a painful curve etched on his face. He turned slightly, his voice low, thick with unshed tears.
"No, Sera," he said, his words echoing in the silent field. "Not this time."
