Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! I've escaped them once and don't plan to be taken again. Even if it costs me my life. ★★★ Ashtynn Underwood is a prisoner in the high maximum security prison, USP Ty. When Earth got invaded, her prison was put on lockdown. Each prisoner was inspected to see their use of the Droppers. She escapes with her life, barely, and is on the run with a new friend. After running for a year, her killer instincts are at an all-time high, constantly looking over her shoulder, not knowing if she will live to see the next sunrise. When she encounters a camp of sleeping soldiers, she encounters a man who stirs something in her, causing her to do something she vowed never to do again. She hesitated. ★★★ Rhett Vinson is an FBI agent living in Washington, DC. At the height of his career, he has never believed in the FBI more in his entire life. Until the invasion. Then, his entire life was flipped upside down. Accompanied by his partner and friends, Rhett journeys to Haven, a sanctuary located in Montana. Fleeing from Droppers for a year hardens anyone and makes anyone into a killer, but Rhett still tries to hold onto his humanity. But when a thief tries to steal supplies from him and his Unit, he realizes the thief isn't just anyone. She was the Ghost. And he hesitated.

The One Who Holds The World

17 parts Ongoing Mature

The arrival of the alien vessel wasn't an auspicious occasion. Instead, it triggered a cataclysmic shift in reality, imbuing a segment of humanity with extraordinary, often volatile, powers. The familiar world fractured, becoming a perilous landscape where the laws of nature buckled and twisted. Colossal, mutated creatures now stalked the ruined urban centers, while super-powered factions battled for dominance, preying on the vulnerable and fighting for peace. Lars Valeria, a 27-year-old demolition specialist with the Global Peacekeeping Organization, witnessed this transformation firsthand. His role was hazardous: dismantling sections of the alien ship-a task fraught with peril in this unstable reality. Then, a surge of unfamiliar energy, radiating from the vessel, plunged him into a coma. He awakens months later to a world that has become his permanent reality. But the incident has irrevocably altered him as well. He feels a nascent power within, a connection to the warped reality that surrounds him-an ability to manipulate it. As he cautiously explores these newfound capabilities, a stark realization emerges within him. In this fractured world where raw power dictates survival, Lars now possesses the ultimate power. He stands at a precipice, faced with the profound question of how he will wield it.
