When renowned but reclusive puppeteer Emmerich Vance dies under mysterious circumstances, his estranged granddaughter, Renaee Vance, inherits his sprawling, decaying estate known locally as The Marionette House. She returns to the coastal town she fled as a child, hoping to sell the property quickly and move on.
