That didn't help her at all though, she still gasped, her gasp echoing eerily in the quiet night air; her heart still raced as though in a marathon; her breathing still hitched; a shiver still ran sharply down her spine.
There was Vivienne, lying in the grass, a bullet through her heart, limbs mangled, blood everywhere, eyes lifeless.
Lydia-against all her instincts-kneeled down beside Vivienne's body, squeezing her wrist tightly.
There was no pulse.
