This is a fantasy book. It's told from the point of view of a young male protagonist named Sebastian. His father controls him-every move he makes. When Sebastian leaves the house each morning, he goes to the Guard, who strive to protect the world from harm. His father doesn't know about this. Sebastain has to come home each night unharmed. One day, at the Guard, he's sent out to kill the ruler of the Nyxian Depths. Someone hears about this and isn't too thrilled. He sends out Gwen, a young and bright girl who is extremely easy to manipulate, to bring Sebastian back to him.
