Freed But Bound

22 parte Ongoing

He always chose pink- not because he loved pink, but because she did. Isaac knew everything about Carrie- her favorite food, her favorite snack, her favorite color. He knew when her smile was truth and when her laughter was only a veil. He could weather her tempers, her sharp tongue, the piercing edge of her voice. He could take it all- every storm she was- without ever questioning why. Yet he never realized his words could bruise her too. Carrie never cared how many times he shattered her heart, she only cared that he was still there to hold the pieces. She learned to swallow her pain in silence, just to keep him close enough to hurt her again. She could endure anything, just as he endured everything for her. Because even when he broke her, he was still the only one who knew how to mend her. He freed her when they were ten, and she's been bound to him ever since. To Carrie, he was everything. To Isaac, she was someone he had simply promised to protect. She wanted nothing but him- his time, his presence, his world. She clung to him like sunlight she was terrified to lose. She was dangerously dependent on his existence, while he was chasing a dream that may not include her. He freed her once. She mistook it for love. Now she can't live without him- and he doesn't even know he's the reason she's breaking.
