A plague has spread throughout all of earth, slaughtering some, but giving some people extraordinary abilities. The survivors of the plague have genetic modifications that are similar to superpowers. However, the powers soon turn a small band of people into tyrannical leaders, instituting morbid laws that force people lacking the advanced abilities into hiding.
Two years after the forcing of The Mortals into hiding, a High School sophomore is on the run from an 'Enhanced' (person with powers). After being cornered into an alley, he turns around and stares at the Enhanced. The Enhanced raises his hands in an attack position. They soon start to glow a bright blue. The boy's eyes widen, but as the man starts to step closer, he starts to rise from the ground.
The boy looked as the man flailed while rising slowly and slowly higher. It was almost as if the gravity had reversed just around the Enhanced...
The boy realized something...
He was an Enhanced.
