As the sun dipped low over the Love Island villa, golden light spilled across the firepit. The Islanders stood in tense silence - girls on one side, boys on the other, nerves flickering behind glossy smiles.

The hostess strutted in with that signature slow walk, eyes sharp, tablet in hand. Her voice cut through the air like a blade wrapped in velvet.

"Alright, Islanders... time to stop playing nice."

One by one, the boys stepped forward, dropping names and half-confessions like smooth grenades. Some played it safe, choosing their original partner. Others didn't flinch when they stole someone else's girl - eyes locked, jaws set.

But the quiet one? The boy no one could fully read? He made his move with calm confidence, pairing with the girl no one saw coming. She smiled - a real one, not for show.

Then came the twist.

"Raise your hand if you're 100% happy with who you're coupled up with."

Silence. A few hands drifted up. One or two stayed stubbornly at their sides.

It was clear - not everyone was satisfied. Not everyone was safe.

And just like that, the villa buzzed with uncertainty. Alliances cracked. Eyes wandered. And somewhere behind the scenes... new trouble was already walking through the door.

"Are you... lost?" Someone asked, her tone impatient. I stopped scanning the room to find the woman behind the voice. I blinked. She had the most luminous blue eyes I had ever seen. Even in the dim glow of the bar they glowed brightly, like her pupils were some type of smooth stone at the bottom of a clear blue ocean. Within her blue there flickered tiny speckles of silver, which gave her an icy, somewhat stony appeal. But it was her slight, lopsided smile that erased any signs of wanting to be alone. No wonder this bar was so popular. "Uh, no," I said, holding up the Help Wanted sign I had snagged from the front window. The woman's cool eyes flickered between the sign and me. She didn't say anything, only looked slightly thoughtful as slender fingers raked through her long blonde hair. "What can you do?" She finally asked, definitely not expecting me to be able to do much of anything at all. She'd be right. "Anything and everything," I answered-lied-instantly, hoping I didn't look too desperate, didn't sound too eager. To be perfectly honest, I hadn't worked a day in my life. My hands were used to weekly manicures not hard labor. But desperate times call for desperate measures. The blonde appeared thoughtful again. Those magnificent eyes gave me a once over, slow and steady. You could see the cogs turning in her head as she considered it. I decided to try and sound more convincing. "I have many skills," I added. Okay, so I stole that from Xena, but I was hoping it worked as well for me as it did for her. The blonde lifted a sculpted brow and the smile was, once again, back on her lips. She seemed amused. Maybe she was a Xena fan? "Alright... I'll start you off cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping the floors, doing the dishes..." Crap.

"Is it a turn off?" She flashes a grin, revealing her perfect white teeth, inching her face closer to mine. Oh no, she's definitely flirting, and suddenly my palms are sweating. My heart pounds because I know I can't play her game. Not because I don't want to, but because-well, I'm not into girls. At least, I thought I wasn't. "I don't know. I can't really explain how other girls feel about it when you date them," I shrug awkwardly, trying to keep my cool. She chuckles softly, shaking her head, and the air between us thickens with tension. What's her game? "Forget other girls. How do *you* feel about it?" she presses, her voice low and teasing. I shift uncomfortably, squirming under her gaze. "If I were a lesbian, then no. No, it wouldn't be a turn-off," I stammer, feeling the nervousness creep up my spine. "You sure?" Her voice is honey, tempting. Meet Jay Alden, 23 years old and still figuring life-and love-out. She's always been straight... well, more like straight as a squiggly line. That is, until Ky Guery entered her life. Ky, a confident 22-year-old who's comfortable with her sexuality, flirts with ease and has Jay questioning everything she thought she knew about herself. Ky's carefree attitude and playful charm make Jay feel warm, giddy, and utterly confused all at once. One moment she's sure she's straight, the next she's drowning in Ky's kisses, wondering if maybe, just maybe, she's been wrong all along. But falling for Ky isn't just about self-discovery-it's about trust, too. Jay's been burned before by a smooth-talking ex-boyfriend, and Ky's playful ways sometimes remind her too much of that heartbreak. She's caught between the thrill of something new and the fear of getting hurt again. Does she dare open her heart, or will Ky's unpredictability push her away for good? Jay's journey is one of love, confusion, and self-acceptance as she navigates the messy middle ground between what she thought she knew and what she's starting to feel.

"Colby?" Avery asks, his voice wavering only slightly. I turn to him, cursing at myself for hesitating, if only for a minute. "Yeah?" "Do you have a crush on me?" My heart shatters, but I can't lie. Not to him. Not about this. "Yes, Avery. I've had a crush on you since that day you got drunk and stumbled into my house. Every time I look at you, I can't help wanting to touch you and craving you." I pause, taking in a shuddering breath. "This doesn't have to change anything. You don't --" He snatches my hands. "You wanna touch me, Colby?" His sudden boldness stops me in my tracks. I nod slowly as he nears my face, his cheek brushing mine. He whispers in my ear, a raspy murmur that sends electric shocks through my entire body. "Do it. I fucking dare you." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Avery Thomas and Colby Beck are best friends; thick as thieves, but polar opposites. Where Avery is energetic and social, Colby is closed off and selects very few people to really know him. Their relationship has always been simply this: best friends. That is, until one drunken night like all of the others; Avery saunters into Colby's house, seeking help in his state. As he assists Avery, Colby realizes that he is beginning to become attracted to him in more ways than best friends should be. *WARNING* Mature sexual scenes and some homophobia. Gaydar by HoeyJoeyy

How do you tell if someone is gay? Well some people have the special ability to use what is called a gaydar, which can pinpoint signs or mannerisms that can determine if another is in fact gay. My name is Mason Lux, and I'm the 'gay best friend' of the queen bee of high school, Gabriella Grace, aka Gabby. Along with our other best friend Emily, we are called the GEM(s), the s is silent. Rulers of the school through gossip and drama, we are either adored and hated, there is no in between. While being popular is fun and all, there's something that it doesn't bring you, love - at least for me. Gabby on the other hand could get a boyfriend with the snap of her fingers, and the same goes for Emily. My love life is as dry as the Sahara, and I'm a little bitter about it. Until one day, Caspian Rose, the most attractive jock in this whole damn school, comes up to me. Never did I think the day would come where I'd talk to him, is this one of my dreams or fantasies? My heart beating fast, my face as red as a tomato. In his raspy voice he asks me - 'could you help me get Gabby to date me?' Oh how wonderful, finally my dream starts happening only for me to be pulled down to reality once again. After all, I'm the gay best friend, and the closest to Gabby (sorry Emily). What do I do? Tell him off and say I'm not a charity - haha as if! He's too perfect to turn down, looks like I'm in for quite the job. In exchange for helping Caspian date Gabby, he promises to get me a boyfriend. Claiming he has a 'gaydar' despite being a straight boy, which I highly doubt, especially since I don't have one. I can't tell who's gay and who isn't unless they're open about it. At this point I'll do whatever to find a boyfriend. Welcome to my crazy and desperate life!
