He leaned back like I'd physically pushed him. "Got it." James nodded "Two. No talking about feelings." That one came out faster than I expected. His eyebrows lifted slightly "If either of us starts getting weird," I added, "we stop. Immediately."

"Harsh," he muttered.

"Protective," I corrected.

He didn't argue.

"Three," I continued, "we end this whenever I say we end this." There was a pause. A small one. But I saw it. He hesitated. And something in me tightened at that hesitation. "Say yes," I warned quietly. He raised his hands. "Yes. Your call."
