she'd lived her whole life tucked away, wrapped up in the illusion of nirvana. the world outside was a distant threat, a horror kept at bay by the armed men and high walls. she was untouchable, or so she thought. it changed quickly--too quickly. there was no time to ease into the roughness of the world, no time to adapt into the girl she should be, but it didn't matter. she didn't need to. not with him here.
he didn't offer her comfort or safety. he didn't need to. his presence was enough--raw, intense, and grounded in the idea of survival. he didn't see her as fragile, maybe he should've. but it didn't matter now. she was in this world--his world--whether he fought it or not.
