Taehyung hates life. Well, most of it. But if there's one thing he hates more than anything, it's couples. Maybe it's the way they look at each other, or how their laughter fills the air like they own the world. Whatever it is, he can't stand it. Somewhere along the way, he decided relationships just weren't for him.
He doesn't understand the point of falling in love only to fall apart, over and over again. People treat heartbreak like a hobby, collecting lovers the way you'd try on outfits in a showroom - seeing what fits, discarding what doesn't. But hearts aren't made of steel. They bruise. They break. And he can't wrap his head around how easily people move on, as if memories could be deleted, feelings wiped clean.
To him, forgetting someone you once loved feels impossible.
But then, in France, everything changes.
Because that's where he finds it - the diary of a woman he met once, briefly, at his cousin's wedding. And when he reads her words, he finally understands what she meant that night when she'd smiled and said,
"Whoever said you have to forget someone to move on, Tae? You can remember them - and still move forward."
Taehyung hasn't been the same ever since.
Something in him shifted - quietly, almost imperceptibly - like a page turning in the middle of a story he didn't realize was about him.
