Gerard Way hates new beginnings-especially the chaos of freshman year. But everything shifts when he meets Frank, the quiet boy with messy hair and a crooked smile at the locker beside his. What starts as an awkward exchange turns into a daily rhythm: shared classes, swapped snacks, after-school video games, and silences that feel more like understanding than emptiness.
As their friendship deepens, so does Gerard's confusion. There are glances that last too long, jokes that feel heavier than they should, and moments that leave his chest aching in ways he doesn't have words for. He tries to ignore it. Bury it. Be "normal." But the more he pushes it down, the more it pushes back.
Meanwhile, Frank doesn't understand why Gerard suddenly starts pulling away-until one night, when everything quiet breaks open.
Told in soft spaces and sharp truths, this is a coming-of-age story about the blur between friendship and something more. It's about shame, longing, and the quiet courage it takes to stop running from yourself-and maybe, just maybe, run toward someone else.
High school is still loud and messy. But with Frank beside him, Gerard begins to realize: maybe some beginnings are worth the risk.

Don't Look Down
Gerard way and Frank Iero have always passed each other in the hallway but never spoke a word to one another. They are both alike in many ways. Both loners who feel like they don't quite belong. Frank mostly spends his days depressed and alone. The occasional hurtful remarks from his fellow classmates and father wearing him down. Frank's family issues seem to swallow him hole which is mainly why he feels like throwing in the towel... permanently. Gerard lives to protect those he cares about. Though, he has a bit of an edgy attitude most people learn to respect. There's more to Gerard than what the outside shows. His brother Mikey and best friend Ray know glimpses of how he really feels, and how complications from the past really fuck with his behavior. But, their differences don't keep them apart considering these strangers are forced into each other's lives when Gerard finds Frank attempting to commit suicide. Can Gerard help Frank without revealing his own problems and emotions or will they become too much to bare? *Trigger warning *Still editing mistakes( I'm fully aware my grammar sucks) *also warning this is terribly written. Then his life was pretty much threatened by one of the most dangerous kids in school. Gerard got mad easily-and when he got mad, you would fear for your life (well, probably not literally) but he was dangerous and got mad easily and all the time. Maybe it got out of hand when he wound up putting an innocent kid in the hospital almost killing him. Everyone scared of Gerard. Except maybe one kid. How can two people so different be so perfect? He's homeschooled as well, which means he only ever leaves to get groceries. For how little he leaves the house, and how closed off he is, it's quite a wonder how he met Frank. Frank is an extrovert and he kind of lacks boundaries when it comes to making friends. He's curious and speaks his mind constantly, which sometimes gets him into trouble.
