Sunstar, Meadowclan's leader, prevailed over the invading rogues thanks to a less-than-noble promise with the Dark Forest cats. With the condition that he hand over an excellently trained warrior to join their ranks.
With the birth of Moonkit, Sunstar's only kin, the choice to groom the young tom into a great leader is surely what Sunstar aims to do. When an accident strikes and leaves Moonkit out of the running, however, Sunstar must pivot and decide how he'll fulfill his promise to the cats of the Dark Forest before they go back on their deal.
Unaware of his father's plot, Moonkit lives life happily, training alongside his friends until something starts guiding him toward a nefarious plot within his clan. Is someone in danger?

In the midst of this loss, Shadowclan is strengthened! Their ranks are bustling with cats who gladly take new territory from the disappearing Thunderclan, and raise strong, prideful kits. Windclan is struggling to remain united, with only one queen in the nursery, an aging Healer and Guide, and a finicky remaining apprentice. Their leader, Daffodilstar, has resigned to believe that she will be the last leader of Windclan, with Crowkit and Foxkit as the last kits to live on the moor connected to the memories of their warrior ancestors. However, something new is coming to the clans! Foxkit, though others seem to lack any faith in her and her brother's connection to Windclan, has nothing but pride in her small home. On the other side of the border, Featherkit has a very different upbringing, constantly being told of the excellence of Shadowclan and their deep connection to Starclan. One day, duty and curiosity bring the two together in a reunion that will reset the trajectory of not only their own futures, but the future of all five clans!
