Kim's voice was soft now. "And I love you, Lettie. Every single piece of you." There was a long pause. So long Kim thought maybe she'd fallen asleep. And then-so faint she thought she imagined it-Lettie whispered, "...I love you." Kim stopped breathing. She didn't move. Didn't blink. Her brain scrambled to process the sound, to be sure she hadn't made it up.

Fifteen-year-old Lana Winslow has never had it easy. Growing up in a broken home where love is a stranger and survival is a daily battle, her only escape is the football field. There, beneath her heavy breathing and the thud of the ball, she can almost forget the bruises - both the ones on her skin and the ones no one sees. However everything changes the day she crosses paths with her idol, world-renowned footballer Lucy Bronze. Known for her fierce talent and fiery spirit, Lucy sees something in Lana that no one else does, a spark dimmed by pain but not yet extinguished. As Lucy takes Lana under her wing, the teenager finds herself on a journey not just to chase her football dreams, but to heal, trust and fight for the life she never thought she deserved. But can one person's belief be enough to rewrite a life of hardships? There will be possible triggers in this story so please pay attention to the warnings at the start of chapters. I promise the writing gets better as the story continues (Around chapter 19)
