Sidney and Billy broke up. It's Stus job - even though he volunteered, to take care of Billy. Little did he know that the breakup revolved around him. 

The time is kind of wonky. It's 1996, Billy's mom did leave, but the duo didn't kill anyone. Yet. (I have no idea if they will or not. What these men do is not my decision. Because that makes sense.)
