Kael, a young merman (the male version of a mermaid) with salmon-like features, only wanted to paint beautiful things.
But when the world opened up, his mother died at the hands of bandits, and with her, his art, his home... and his hope... He was barely 18.
Now, lost in the depths of the ocean, Kael enters a forbidden cave to grieve, unaware that he is about to awaken to the most beautiful and dangerous nightmare of his life.
There lives Enodeis (a mermaid with Angler Fish features), the banished predator, the first queen of Nautia, forgotten by history and hungry for power... and companionship.
When Kael becomes her new "toy," what begins as an unbalanced relationship, marked by fear, desire, and submission, begins to mutate into something stranger, more intimate, and ambiguous.
Both are creatures broken by a world that betrayed them. But can something true blossom between a hungry shadow and a shattered heart?
