She's spent years hiding from the past. He's spent his life running from it. Now the spirits want them both. Estelle Mays has a secret-one etched into her skin by the Shadowwood itself. As a rare human Rootwaked, she can feel the emotions and desires of everyone around her, a gift that's more curse than blessing. So she stays hidden, safe in her forest cottage, far from the chaos of Midcity. Until the boy with no name bleeds into her life. Raven is quiet, guarded, and dangerous-everything Estelle should push away. But something in him is broken, and something in her can't help but reach for it. What begins as reluctant trust becomes something more, even as secrets unravel around them. Because Raven is tied to the very people who would destroy her-and neither of them can outrun the storm that's coming. As city and forest edge toward destruction, Estelle and Raven will have to decide: cling to the past that shaped them, or fight for a future they might still choose.

He liked the rain. It was just like him. And it was the only thing that looked at Raven and actually saw Raven. Not 'Raven Eli'. Not the perfect golden boy. Not the optimistic leader with dazzling smiles. Just the quiet, aching mess underneath. Raven had a lot of problems. A lot. Issues in the depths of his psyche hidden so deep he wasn't sure he could remember them all anymore. There was one he wasn't letting go of though. The one that had started to seem more like a coping mechanism with each passing day. He just.. can't stop saving people. Helping. Smiling. Even when it's killing him. At one point he'd wished he could be both rain AND thunder. Loud, angry. Proud. But then the universe answered him by bringing a boy who shows up to school bleeding and bandaged then tells anyone who asks to mind their own damn business. Chaos in human form. He made Raven feel so frustrated and out of sorts. So why did it seem like adding Devon to the mix was just going to make the whole mess tip over and spill? And why was Raven not stopping it? ~This is not a love story. It's a drowning.
