(It is highly recommended to read "Alterra: Foreign Eden" before this, as certain characters and events may carry over or be mentioned in passing.) After barely surviving his last assignment, Kusunoki Sakuta (Alterra's most eccentric yet beloved android inspector) is transferred to Florienne, a nation of elegance, pride, and carefully hidden rot. Beneath the glamorous facade of Réseau Iris, Alterra's most aristocratic subsidiary, something festers. Tasked with overseeing the android heiresses of the enigmatic Lumière family, Sakuta finds himself trapped in a world of whispered rumors, veiled threats, and deadly politics. Aurélie Lumière, the matriarch, is as terrifying as she is graceful. Her daughters, Élise and Colette, couldn't be more different-one cold and secretive, the other proud and naïve. And yet, the ties that bind them may strangle them all. As the curtains rise and the audience watches, Sakuta must once again walk the fine line between duty and affection-between light and shadow.

What happens when you have nothing else to live for? What is one to do when your final purpose in life is stripped away by the laws of cosmological distance? Rei, a scientist turned soldier, discovers these truths the hard way. Summoned away from Earth after a failed assassination attempt, he finds it is impossible to return home to finish what he started. What is left to him is a world of swords and sorcery. A planet that is at war with a being referred to as the Vampiric Witch of Ruin. Caring little for this new world's problems, drowning in his own despair, Rei seeks to end his own life. Until fate guides him to an elf named Frey who has her own plans for him. Can a human with only his skills as a scientist and a soldier survive in this world? A planet that is filled with nothing but sorcery, political corruption, and deadly otherworldly beings? Or will Rei be trapped by the hatred of his past forever?
