Ever since grade school, Uno promised himself one thing: Dos would always be his enemy. No exceptions. No truce, no "oops-we-accidentally-became-friends" moment, no tiny cracks of softness. Dos was loud, infuriating, impossibly competitive and somehow always there exactly when Uno didn't want him to be. The universe could not have been crueler and Uno was sure he would never break.

But the universe, well, it had other plans.

Because no matter how hard Uno tried to avoid him, destiny seemed determined to keep them tangled together. Group projects? Together. School events? Side by side. Every time Uno thought he'd escaped, there he was, Dos, smirking like the chaos incarnate, like the universe was deliberately shipping them harder than any social media fan page could dream of.

And at first, it was war. The usual battlefield of petty insults, childish pranks, and more eye rolls than a human being should ever survive. Uno thought he had the situation fully mapped. Enemy: Dos. Mission: survive without losing his mind.

But then, things started to change.

Uno caught himself noticing Dos in ways he swore he never would.

The way his laugh fills a room, reckless and bright, impossible to ignore.

The way he's actually brilliant, when he's not busy being insufferable.

The quiet, effortless smile that somehow makes Uno's chest tighten and his heart run before his brain can catch up.

And suddenly, the war map is useless. Because Uno isn't sure anymore whether he's fighting Dos or fighting himself.

Hate and something dangerously close to love, so close, one glance, one careless moment, and it could all crumble. And Uno realizes that maybe, just maybe, he's already falling.
